Scheduled service followed in June 1949 after federal approval. The company adopted the name TPA-The Aloha Airline in 1950 and became Aloha Airlines in 1958. Aloha acquired Princeville Airways in 1987 as Aloha IslandAir, later Island Air, which became independent in 2003. Mainland service began in 2000.
