american-trans-air-ceramic-coffee-mug
American Trans Air Ceramic Coffee Mug
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Start the day with a reminder of American Trans Air, the Indianapolis-founded carrier whose story spans charter flying, leisure routes, and scheduled service. Established in 1973, the company launched as a charter airline in 1981 and began scheduled flights in 1986. Its Chicago Midway hub and evolving ATA identity remain memorable details for airline history enthusiasts. This coffee mug celebrates that distinctive corporate journey and makes a thoughtful choice for collectors, aviation fans, and anyone with an interest in U.S. air travel history.

American Trans Air began in Indianapolis in 1973, when pilot J. George Mikelsons founded a for-profit company to provide staff and aircraft for Ambassadair, a separately certified, nonprofit travel club. In March 1981, the company became a charter airline in its own right. It introduced scheduled service in 1986, initially linking Indianapolis with Fort Myers, Florida, and later developed a major hub at Chicago Midway while serving destinations in the mainland United States, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The airline expanded through changing names: its parent, Amtran, became ATA Holdings in 2002; the carrier adopted the ATA Airlines name in 2003; and the parent became Global Aero Logistics in 2007 after acquiring World Air Holdings, which operated World Airways and North American Airlines. ATA also flew military and commercial charters, including extensive U.S. military transport. Facing financial strain, it filed for Chapter 11 protection in October 2004 and emerged in February 2006. On April 2, 2008, ATA filed again and ceased operations, citing the loss of a military charter contract and rising fuel costs. Southwest Airlines later acquired ATA trademarks, logos, and other assets.

11oz

15oz

Height, in

3.74

4.61

Diameter, in

3.15

3.43

Product features

- Microwave-safe for quick reheats

- Dishwasher-safe for easy cleanup

- Available in 11oz and 15oz sizes

- Glossy white ceramic with vibrant, long-lasting print

- Lead- and BPA-free, comfortable C-handle

Care instructions

- Clean in dishwasher or wash by hand with warm water and dish soap

EU representative: HONSON VENTURES LIMITED, gpsr@honsonventures.com, 3, Gnaftis House flat 102, Limassol, Mesa Geitonia, 4003, CY

Product information: Generic brand, two year warranty in the EU and Northern Ireland

Care instructions: Clean in dishwasher or wash by hand with warm water and dish soap
