Pan-Am stations in the Southeast were rebranded Amoco in 1956, and by 1971 the company’s divisions used the Amoco name. Standard Oil Company of Indiana officially became Amoco Corporation in 1985. Headquartered in Chicago's Amoco Building, the company merged with BP in December 1998 as BP Amoco; the company name became BP in 2001.
