The business added a second Rhode Island store in East Providence in 1929, followed by its first Massachusetts location in Taunton in 1931. The Esmond Mill became the company headquarters in 1965. After Benjamin Bromberg died in 1966, his son Malcolm became president. Benny's expanded through Massachusetts and Connecticut during the 1960s and 1970s, reaching as far as Cape Cod; its final new store opened in Killingly, Connecticut, in 2005. Following Malcolm Bromberg's death in 2014, ownership passed to Arnold and Howard Bromberg and Judy Rosenstein. On September 8, 2017, Benny's announced the closure of all 31 stores.
