jo-ann-fabrics-car-coaster
Jo-Ann Fabrics Car Coaster
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Keep a reminder of Jo-Ann Fabrics close on the road. Founded in 1943 as the Cleveland Fabric Shop, the business adopted its familiar Jo-Ann Fabrics name in 1963 and went on to become a fixture in American fabric and craft retail. Its long story includes acquisitions, corporate name changes, a 2018 rebrand as Joann, and the closure of its last stores in 2025. This car coaster is a small tribute to the shopping trips and creative projects many customers remember.

Jo-Ann’s history began in 1943, when German immigrant families opened the Cleveland Fabric Shop in Cleveland, Ohio. Following expansion, the shop was renamed Jo-Ann Fabrics in 1963, combining the names Joan and Jacqueline Ann. In 1969, the business became a publicly held corporation called Fabri-Centers of America, Inc. It acquired the 342-store Cloth World chain in 1994 and House of Fabrics in 1998; that retailer had also operated as Fabricland, Fabric King, and So-Fro Fabrics. In September 1998, Fabri-Centers changed its corporate name to Jo-Ann Stores Inc., and its stores were renamed Jo-Ann Fabrics. The company went private after a 2010 buyout announcement and 2011 stock-market delisting, then returned to public trading in 2021. It rebranded as Joann in 2018. After Chapter 11 filings in 2024 and 2025, the chain began liquidating in February 2025; its last stores closed on May 30. Michaels later acquired Joann’s intellectual property and private labels, but not its stores.

2.6'' × 2.6"

Width, in

2.60

Height, in

2.60

Thickness, in

0.30

Product features

- Made from 100% soapstone — naturally absorbent

- Available in 1, 2, or 4-piece sets with the same print on each

- One-sided full-color print with a matte finish

- 2.6″ × 2.6″ size fits most vehicle drink holders; notch for easy removal

- Removable “Made in China” sticker on the bottom

Care instructions

- Gently wipe the dirt or dust off with a clean, dry microfiber cloth
