jo-ann-fabrics-metal-sign
Jo-Ann Fabrics Metal Sign
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Honor a familiar name in American fabric and craft retail with this Jo-Ann Fabrics metal sign. The story began in Cleveland in 1943 as the Cleveland Fabric Shop, then moved into a new chapter when the Jo-Ann Fabrics name appeared in 1963. Corporate identities and ownership changed over the years, and the brand became Joann in 2018. Following liquidation in 2025, the last stores closed, leaving a meaningful history for longtime shoppers and collectors to remember.

Jo-Ann’s history began in 1943, when German immigrant families opened the Cleveland Fabric Shop in Cleveland, Ohio. Following expansion, the shop was renamed Jo-Ann Fabrics in 1963, combining the names Joan and Jacqueline Ann. In 1969, the business became a publicly held corporation called Fabri-Centers of America, Inc. It acquired the 342-store Cloth World chain in 1994 and House of Fabrics in 1998; that retailer had also operated as Fabricland, Fabric King, and So-Fro Fabrics. In September 1998, Fabri-Centers changed its corporate name to Jo-Ann Stores Inc., and its stores were renamed Jo-Ann Fabrics. The company went private after a 2010 buyout announcement and 2011 stock-market delisting, then returned to public trading in 2021. It rebranded as Joann in 2018. After Chapter 11 filings in 2024 and 2025, the chain began liquidating in February 2025; its last stores closed on May 30. Michaels later acquired Joann’s intellectual property and private labels, but not its stores.

7" x 5" (Horizontal)

Width, in

7.00

Height, in

5.00

Depth, in

0.12

Product features

- 100% white aluminum composite — strong, rigid, and lightweight

- Matte full-color print on one side for crisp, non-reflective finish

- Eleven sizes available; horizontal, vertical, and square orientations

- Includes one mounting block, metal plate, and double-sided tape; customer assembly required

- Indoor use only — durable for interior displays

Care instructions

- Use non-abrasive, non-ammonium based products for cleaning.
