kohls-food-stores-spiral-notebook
Kohl's Food Stores Spiral Notebook
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Make room for notes inspired by a distinctive chapter of Wisconsin business history. Maxwell Kohl had operated grocery businesses since 1927, and his 1946 supermarket launched a chain that became the largest in the Milwaukee area. The grocery stores were sold to A&P in 1983, later carried the Kohl's Food Emporium name, and closed in 2003. This spiral notebook is a fitting companion for research, journaling, or collecting memories about regional supermarkets and the changing names of familiar local retailers.

Kohl's Food Stores grew from grocery businesses operated by Maxwell Kohl since 1927. In 1946, he built his first supermarket, the beginning of a southeastern Wisconsin chain that became the largest supermarket chain in the Milwaukee area. The business also formed part of a wider Kohl's company: in September 1962, Maxwell Kohl opened its first department store in Brookfield, Wisconsin. In 1972, Batus Inc., the U.S. retail division of British American Tobacco Company, bought a controlling interest in Kohl's Corporation, which then operated 50 grocery stores along with department, drug, and liquor stores. Members of the Kohl family, including Allen and Herb Kohl, continued to manage the company; Herb left management in 1979. In 1983, the grocery stores were sold to The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P), and operated first as Kohl's Food Store and later as Kohl's Food Emporium. In February 2003, A&P put the stores up for sale as part of a debt-reduction effort. That year, A&P closed all Kohl's Food Stores locations. Madison-area stores were sold to Roundy's; a reported possible purchase by Jewel did not proceed.

One Size

Height, in

8.00

Length, in

6.00

Thickness, in

0.60

Product features

- 118 ruled pages (59 sheets) of smooth 90gsm paper for clear, bleed-resistant writing

- 350gsm front and back covers with a printed front and dark grey back for durability

- Metal spiral binding that lays flat and allows easy page removal

- Interior document pocket on back cover for storing receipts, maps, or notes

- Compact size: 6" x 8" (15.2 x 20.3 cm) — portable and ride-ready

Care instructions

- Use a soft, clean and dry cloth to gently brush any dust or dirt off from the center of book outwards.

EU representative: HONSON VENTURES LIMITED, gpsr@honsonventures.com, 3, Gnaftis House flat 102, Limassol, Mesa Geitonia, 4003, CY

Product information: Generic brand, 2 year warranty in EU and Northern Ireland as per Directive 1999/44/EC

Care instructions: Use a soft, clean and dry cloth to gently brush any dust or dirt off from the center of book outwards.
