lafayette-radio-electronics-passport-cover
Lafayette Radio Electronics Passport Cover
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Carry a bit of Lafayette Radio Electronics history on your next trip with this passport cover. The company’s catalogs connected radio operators and electronics hobbyists with components, communications gear, hi-fi equipment, and kits, reaching far beyond its store locations. From its New York City beginnings to its Long Island years, Lafayette became a recognizable name among enthusiasts. This travel accessory celebrates that story for collectors and anyone who enjoys the legacy of hands-on electronics.

Lafayette Radio Electronics Corporation was an American electronics retailer and manufacturer active from approximately 1931 to 1981, headquartered in Syosset, Long Island, New York. Its roots reach back to Wholesale Radio Service, established in New York City by Abraham Pletman in the early 1920s. The company began using the Lafayette trademark for radios in July 1931; after a 1935 Federal Trade Commission action, Wholesale Radio Service became Radio Wire Television, Inc. Catalog names evolved through Radio Wire Television, Lafayette Radio Corporation, Lafayette-Concord in 1948, and Lafayette alone by 1952. Lafayette built a substantial mail-order business serving radio operators and electronics hobbyists, alongside branded stores and associate retailers. Stores opened in Jamaica and Manhattan in the mid-1950s, and kits were made at the Jamaica facility. From its Syosset headquarters and Hauppauge warehouse, the company sold components, communications gear, hi-fi equipment, kits, tools, and more. In 1981, Lafayette entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy; Circuit City bought several New York-area stores and operated some as Lafayette-Circuit City. The stores eventually closed. The Syosset repair center remained open for a year after the final store closing. The Lafayette brand was relaunched at CES in 2003, with products offered through special dealers and limited retail stores.

3.9" x 5.8"

Height, in

5.79

Width (Closed), in

3.94

Width (Open), in

8.03

Depth, in

0.39

Product features

- Two card slots plus pockets for boarding passes or IDs

- Cruelty-free black PU faux leather exterior

- RFID-blocking lining to protect against skimming

- One-size fits most passports (3.9″ × 5.8″)

- Vibrant front-cover print with potential edge fading on darker solids

Care instructions

- Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry or use a soft, non-abrasive cloth

EU representative: HONSON VENTURES LIMITED, gpsr@honsonventures.com, 3, Gnaftis House flat 102, Limassol, Mesa Geitonia, 4003, CY

Product information: Generic brand, 2 year warranty in EU and Northern Ireland as per Directive 1999/44/EC

Care instructions: Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry or use a soft, non-abrasive cloth
