lansburghs-can-cooler
Lansburgh's Can Cooler
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Keep a little Washington shopping history close at hand with this Lansburgh's can cooler. The store began in 1860 as a family business on Seventh and E Streets NW, eventually serving customers from downtown Washington to suburban shopping centers. Its long-lived flagship and measured regional expansion make the name a memorable part of local commercial history. Bring this piece to a backyard gathering, picnic, or game night, or add it to a collection of department-store keepsakes.

Lansburgh's was a Washington, D.C.-area department-store chain founded by brothers James and Gustav Lansburgh. Its first store opened on October 30, 1860, at Seventh and E Streets NW, in downtown Washington's shopping district. The company became known initially for supplying the black crepe used for President Abraham Lincoln's funeral and installed the District of Columbia's first elevator in a commercial building. The business remained family owned until City Stores, Inc. acquired it in 1951. Its downtown flagship, constructed in 1882 and designed by architect Adolf Cluss, was expanded in 1916, 1924 and 1941, extending to Eighth Street. Lansburgh's began suburban expansion with a Langley Park, Maryland, branch in 1955, followed by a Shirlington Shopping Center store in Arlington, Virginia, in 1959. Later branches opened at Tysons Corner Center in 1969, Rockville Mall in 1972 and Springfield Mall in 1973. At its final liquidation in June 1973, the chain ranked eighth in the Washington, D.C., retail market, with sales of $28.5 million. The former flagship later served as office and warehouse space and became part of downtown Washington's revitalized Penn Quarter.

Regular Can

Slim Can

Height, in

4.30

6.00

Diameter, in

3.50

3.50

Product features

- Durable 100% polyester exterior with edge-to-edge vibrant print

- Soft 100% foam liner for firm grip and insulation

- Lightweight and slim — fits regular and slim cans

- Outside white polyester with black foam interior for contrast

- Available sizes: Regular (3.5" x 4.3") and Slim (3.5" x 6'")

Care instructions

- Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry or use a soft, non-abrasive cloth

EU representative: HONSON VENTURES LIMITED, gpsr@honsonventures.com, 3, Gnaftis House flat 102, Limassol, Mesa Geitonia, 4003, CY

Product information: Generic brand, two year warranty in the EU and Northern Ireland

Care instructions: Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry or use a soft, non-abrasive cloth
