Sun Capital Partners acquired Marsh in 2006, taking it private, and separated Village Pantry convenience stores in 2007. Marsh filed for bankruptcy in May 2017 and was liquidated. Kroger subsidiary Topvalco acquired 11 stores, while Fresh Encounter acquired 15. Fresh Encounter rebranded 14 as Needler’s Fresh Market and one in Van Wert as Chief Supermarket.
