The company emerged in 1957 from businesses with distinct roots: McGraw Electric began by bringing electricity into homes, while Thomas A. Edison, Inc. made consumer products such as records and radios. Later acquisitions and changing ownership reflect the shifting landscape of American manufacturing. It is a fitting keepsake for company-history enthusiasts, collectors, or anyone who enjoys a conversation-starting nod to an enduring brand name.

McGraw-Edison was an American electrical-equipment manufacturer formed in 1957 when McGraw Electric acquired Thomas A. Edison, Inc. McGraw Electric began in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1900, installing electricity in homes before expanding into industrial and commercial buildings and electrical products. In 1952, it merged with Pennsylvania Transformer Company while retaining the McGraw Electric name. Thomas A. Edison, Inc. had been reorganized in 1910 from Edison Manufacturing Co.; its products included phonographs, records, radios, and dictation machines. Charles Edison led that company from 1927 and became chairman of the merged company, retiring in 1961. McGraw-Edison expanded through acquisitions, including power-tool businesses in 1969 and 1972 and Studebaker-Worthington in 1979. It also sold divisions: its appliance business went to Raytheon in 1979, its food-service equipment division was acquired in 1980, and its power-tool division was sold that year. Cooper Industries acquired McGraw-Edison in 1985. The McGraw-Edison name continued on industrial, commercial, and institutional lighting products; Pennsylvania Transformer Technologies has owned the brand since 1996.

Regular Can

Slim Can

Height, in

4.30

6.00

Diameter, in

3.50

3.50

Product features

- Durable 100% polyester exterior with edge-to-edge vibrant print

- Soft 100% foam liner for firm grip and insulation

- Lightweight and slim — fits regular and slim cans

- Outside white polyester with black foam interior for contrast

- Available sizes: Regular (3.5" x 4.3") and Slim (3.5" x 6'")

Care instructions

- Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry or use a soft, non-abrasive cloth

EU representative: HONSON VENTURES LIMITED, gpsr@honsonventures.com, 3, Gnaftis House flat 102, Limassol, Mesa Geitonia, 4003, CY

Product information: Generic brand, two year warranty in the EU and Northern Ireland

Care instructions: Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry or use a soft, non-abrasive cloth
