Sunset was reincorporated in 1899 and merged into Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in 1917. Pacific Telephone Northwest was created as a division on February 1, 1960, before Pacific Northwest Bell was incorporated on March 27, 1961. Approved by the Washington Public Service Commission on June 5, the new company separated at midnight on July 1, 1961.
