painewebber-car-coaster
PaineWebber Car Coaster
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Keep a small reminder of American financial history close at hand with this PaineWebber car coaster. The firm began in Boston in 1880, expanded its work over the decades, and moved its headquarters to New York in 1963. After building its reach through acquisitions, it joined UBS in 2000, and the PaineWebber name later gave way to UBS Wealth Management USA. A fitting detail for collectors of corporate identity and the story of wealth management.

Founded in Boston in 1880 by William A. Paine and Wallace G. Webber, the brokerage began as Paine & Webber and leased offices at 48 Congress Street in 1881. It became Paine, Webber & Co. when Charles H. Paine joined the partnership, and acquired a New York Stock Exchange seat in 1890. The firm entered investment banking in the 1920s. In 1942, it merged with Boston firm Jackson & Curtis, becoming Paine, Webber, Jackson & Curtis. The company moved its headquarters to New York in 1963; its holding company, PaineWebber Inc., was incorporated in 1969 and went public in 1974. Acquisitions expanded its services and reach, including Blyth, Eastman Dillon & Co. in 1979 and Kidder, Peabody & Co. in 1995. In 1984, divisions combined under the PaineWebber Inc. name, with PaineWebber Group Inc. established as parent. After acquiring J.C. Bradford & Co. in April 2000, the firm completed a $10.8 billion cash-and-stock merger with Zurich-based UBS on November 3, 2000. The business was initially called UBS PaineWebber; in 2003, the PaineWebber name was replaced by UBS Wealth Management USA.

2.6'' × 2.6"

Width, in

2.60

Height, in

2.60

Thickness, in

0.30

Product features

- Made from 100% soapstone — naturally absorbent

- Available in 1, 2, or 4-piece sets with the same print on each

- One-sided full-color print with a matte finish

- 2.6″ × 2.6″ size fits most vehicle drink holders; notch for easy removal

- Removable “Made in China” sticker on the bottom

Care instructions

- Gently wipe the dirt or dust off with a clean, dry microfiber cloth
