The company moved its headquarters to New York in 1963; its holding company, PaineWebber Inc., was incorporated in 1969 and went public in 1974. Acquisitions expanded its services and reach, including Blyth, Eastman Dillon \u0026amp; Co. in 1979 and Kidder, Peabody \u0026amp; Co. in 1995. In 1984, divisions combined under the PaineWebber Inc. name, with PaineWebber Group Inc. established as parent. After acquiring J.C. Bradford \u0026amp; Co. in April 2000, the firm completed a $10.8 billion cash-and-stock merger with Zurich-based UBS on November 3, 2000.
