It built a hub in Reno and established another at San Jose International Airport in late 1993, later also operating a Las Vegas hub. Reno Air Express feeder flights used BAe Jetstream 31 turboprops under a code-share arrangement. The airline recorded its first annual profit in 1995 and shifted its focus toward Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Seattle in 1996. American Airlines purchased Reno Air in February 1999; Reno Air flew its last flight on August 30. American initially retained and repainted former Reno Air aircraft, but disposed of the fleet in 2001.
