The Manhattan debt collection company became known for raising substantial investor funds before allegations of false financial statements and its 1993 bankruptcy. Its story offers a compelling subject for researchers, students, and collectors exploring financial scandals and corporate accountability. Pair everyday note-taking with a documented piece of late twentieth-century business history, presented as a historical reference rather than an endorsement of the company.

Towers Financial Corporation was a debt collection agency founded in downtown Manhattan in the early 1970s and incorporated in Delaware. It bought loans considered worthless by sellers, including debts owed to hospitals, banks, and telephone companies, for about a penny on the dollar. Founder Steven Hoffenberg led the company as CEO, president, and chairman. In 1987, he hired Jeffrey Epstein as a consultant and set him up in offices at the Villard Houses in Manhattan. The company also pursued unsuccessful takeover bids for Pan Am and, in 1988, Emery Air Freight. From 1988 to 1993, Towers Financial raised more than $400 million through bonds and promissory notes, using false financial statements to attract investors. In February 1993, the Securities and Exchange Commission alleged that reported profits concealed substantial losses. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March 1993. Hoffenberg later pleaded guilty to criminal charges and was sentenced in 1997. The case became a major financial fraud scandal in the United States.

Keep a stack by the phone for action items, stash a pad in your planner for weekly priorities, or place one on a conference table where everyone can jot a quick note. The adhesive holds through handling but releases cleanly when you move items around. For people who prefer minimal branding and maximum writing space, these pads help keep thoughts visible and tasks moving forward without shouting for attention.

Product features

- 50 sheets per pad with one printed side

- 75.2 gsm white uncoated paper for smooth writing

- 3M Post-it® adhesive with branded backing sheet

- Available in seven sizes; assembled in the USA

- Vibrant, crisp corner print using modern printing techniques

3" x 3"

4" x 3"

4" x 4"

Width, in

2.99

4.02

4.02

Height, in

2.87

2.87

3.86

EU representative: HONSON VENTURES LIMITED, gpsr@honsonventures.com, 3, Gnaftis House flat 102, Limassol, Mesa Geitonia, 4003, CY

Product information: Post-it®, two year warranty in the EU and Northern Ireland
