warburg-dillon-read-passport-cover
Warburg Dillon Read Passport Cover
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Carry a name from New York’s financial past on your next journey. Warburg Dillon Read formed in 1997 when Dillon, Read & Co. and S. G. Warburg & Co. came together, adding a new identity to a company story that reaches back to 1832. From underwriting bonds to arranging major corporate transactions, the firm passed through several ownership changes before becoming part of UBS. This passport cover is a travel keepsake for collectors drawn to the history of finance and its changing institutions.

Dillon Read traces its roots to Carpenter & Vermilye, a Wall Street brokerage founded in New York in 1832 by Washington Romeyn Vermilye, George Carpenter, and William Montgomery Vermilye. The firm sold war bonds during the U.S. Civil War. Renamed in 1905 after partner William A. Read, it became Dillon, Read & Co. in 1921 when Clarence Dillon joined the name. Its business included underwriting bonds and securities for New York City, railroads, and other companies. The firm managed a 1921 rescue of Goodyear, arranged the 1925 buyout of Dodge Brothers and its 1928 sale to Chrysler, financed petroleum interests, and underwrote bonds for the Triborough Bridge in 1937. In 1986, its partners sold the firm to The Travelers Companies. It was sold to Barings in 1991, bought back by management in 1995, then acquired by Swiss Bank Corporation in 1997 and merged with S. G. Warburg & Co. to form Warburg Dillon Read. The 1998 merger of Swiss Bank Corporation and Union Bank of Switzerland brought it into UBS. UBS later established Dillon Read Capital Management in 2005 and announced its closure in 2007.

3.9" x 5.8"

Height, in

5.79

Width (Closed), in

3.94

Width (Open), in

8.03

Depth, in

0.39

Product features

- Two card slots plus pockets for boarding passes or IDs

- Cruelty-free black PU faux leather exterior

- RFID-blocking lining to protect against skimming

- One-size fits most passports (3.9″ × 5.8″)

- Vibrant front-cover print with potential edge fading on darker solids

Care instructions

- Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry or use a soft, non-abrasive cloth

EU representative: HONSON VENTURES LIMITED, gpsr@honsonventures.com, 3, Gnaftis House flat 102, Limassol, Mesa Geitonia, 4003, CY

Product information: Generic brand, two year warranty in the EU and Northern Ireland

Care instructions: Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry or use a soft, non-abrasive cloth
