washington-mutual-car-magnet
Washington Mutual Car Magnet
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Take a recognizable piece of American banking history along for the ride with this Washington Mutual car magnet. The story started in Seattle in 1889 and grew through decades of expansion into a nationwide presence remembered by customers as WaMu. The institution's abrupt transition in September 2008, followed by the rebranding of its branches, remains a striking moment in recent corporate history. A fitting keepsake for former customers and collectors who follow Seattle businesses and financial change.

Washington Mutual began in Seattle in 1889 as the Washington National Building Loan and Investment Association, formed after the Great Seattle Fire. It made its first West Coast home mortgage loan in 1890, adopted the Washington Savings and Loan Association name in 1908, and operated as Washington Mutual Savings Bank from 1917. The institution demutualized in 1983 and became a public company; in 1994 it reorganized as Washington Mutual, Inc., a holding company. A long acquisition period expanded its reach across the United States and into mortgage lending and credit cards. Major purchases included Great Western Financial in 1997, Home Savings in 1998, Bank United in 2001, and Providian in 2005. WaMu moved its headquarters to WaMu Center in downtown Seattle in 2006. After heavy deposit withdrawals in September 2008, federal regulators seized its banking operations and placed them in FDIC receivership on September 25. The FDIC sold the banking subsidiaries to JPMorgan Chase for $1.9 billion. WaMu branches were rebranded as Chase branches by the end of 2009. The holding company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Delaware on September 26, 2008.

7.5'' × 4.5''

Width, in

7.50

Height, in

4.50

Product features

- 100% vinyl face with matte finish for a muted, non-reflective look

- Black magnetic backing grips metal surfaces and removes cleanly

- All-weather durability—resists rain and sun exposure

- Available in three sizes to fit vehicles, toolboxes, or merch displays

- Printed with Digital-Direct Printing (DDP) for sharp, long-lasting color

Care instructions

- Wipe the dust off gently with a soft, dry cloth.

EU representative: HONSON VENTURES LIMITED, gpsr@honsonventures.com, 3, Gnaftis House flat 102, Limassol, Mesa Geitonia, 4003, CY

Product information: Generic brand, 2 year warranty in EU and Northern Ireland as per Directive 1999/44/EC

Care instructions: Wipe the dust off gently with a soft, dry cloth.
