Formed in 1941, the Seattle carrier connected smaller Pacific Northwest communities with destinations across the western states and as far as Calgary. Its fleet story runs from DC-3 Scenicliners to pioneering Fairchild F-27 turbine service and later DC-9 jets. The 1968 merger that formed Air West adds another chapter for collectors who appreciate airline names and changing identities.

Formed in 1941, West Coast Airlines was a federally certificated local service carrier headquartered in Seattle. It began scheduled passenger service in 1946 from Boeing Field, flying Douglas DC-3s marketed as Scenicliners, and acquired Empire Air Lines in 1952. Its network linked smaller communities in the Pacific Northwest with cities across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Montana, and California, extending north to Calgary, Alberta. In 1958, West Coast became the first U.S. local service airline to operate turbine airliners, introducing Fairchild F-27s. Douglas DC-9 jets joined its fleet, while a planned order for Fairchild 228 jets did not lead to production. On July 1, 1968, West Coast merged with Pacific Air Lines and Bonanza Air Lines to form Air West; that carrier became Hughes Airwest in 1970. Hughes Airwest was acquired by Republic Airlines in 1980, Republic by Northwest Airlines in 1986, and the Delta-Northwest merger was completed in 2010 with Delta as the surviving carrier. A 2001 effort to revive the West Coast Airlines name ended in bankruptcy.

12" × 6"

Width, in

12.00

Height , in

6.00

Product features

- Durable 100% aluminum construction with silver backing

- High-definition, vibrant color printing on white front

- Standard size 12" × 6" (30.5 × 15.2 cm)

- Four pre-drilled holes for easy hanging or mounting

- Assembled in the USA from globally sourced parts (mounting hardware not included)

Care instructions

- Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry or use a soft, non-abrasive cloth

EU representative: HONSON VENTURES LIMITED, gpsr@honsonventures.com, 3, Gnaftis House flat 102, Limassol, Mesa Geitonia, 4003, CY

Product information: Generic brand, 2 year warranty in EU and Northern Ireland as per Directive 1999/44/EC

Care instructions: Wipe with a damp cloth, air dry or use a soft, non-abrasive cloth
