Ghost Corp Apparel — resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

ADAC Laboratories began in 1970 and grew into a distinctly Silicon Valley builder of nuclear-medicine technology. From Milpitas, California, it designed, manufactured, marketed, and supported equipment and systems for hospitals, universities, and clinics: gamma-camera imaging gear, medical-data computers, radiation-therapy planning products, and healthcare information systems. Pretty serious hardware for an era that thought beige enclosures meant the future.

The company’s initials came from Analytical Development Associates Corporation, but ADAC was the name that stuck. By the mid-1990s, its Milpitas headquarters and production facility formed the company’s center of gravity. In 1996, ADAC received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in the manufacturing category—an unusually polished badge for a business working at the intersection of imaging, electronics, software, and clinical care.

At the turn of the millennium, consolidation came calling. Philips launched its cash tender offer on November 14, 2000, and announced its acquisition of ADAC in December 2000. ADAC’s nuclear-medicine capabilities became part of Philips Medical Systems, while the Milpitas operation carried the ADAC name for several more years before fuller integration. Corporate afterlife: achieved.
