Jo-Ann Fabrics

Ghost Corp Apparel — resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

The story began in 1943, when the Reich and Rohrbach families opened Cleveland Fabric Shop in Cleveland, Ohio. By 1963, its expanding chain had become Jo-Ann Fabrics, a name assembled from family daughters Joan Zimmerman and Jackie Ann Rosskamm. In 1969, the business went public as Fabri-Centers of America, Inc.—because apparently fabric needed a suitably industrial corporate alter ego.

The company relocated its headquarters to Hudson, Ohio, in 1990. Its retail empire grew through the 1994 acquisition of Clothworld and the 1998 acquisition of House of Fabrics. In 1998–1999, Fabri-Centers became Jo-Ann Stores, Inc., and the acquired banners—including Fabricland, Fabric King, House of Fabrics, and Clothworld—were folded into the Jo-Ann Fabrics name.

Leonard Green & Partners acquired the company in 2011, taking it private. The parent company later adopted the name JOANN Inc. in 2021. After a Chapter 11 reorganization in March–April 2024, JOANN entered Chapter 11 again in January 2025. Following a sale process, liquidation sales began across all 790 locations in March 2025, ending an 82-year run of bolts, buttons, seasonal décor, and ambitious projects with suspiciously optimistic supply lists.

Our Jo-Ann Fabrics collection celebrates the big-box sanctuary of thread aisles, coupon stacks, glitter emergencies, and the eternal promise that this time you really will finish the quilt.
