OppenheimerFunds

Ghost Corp Apparel — resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

OppenheimerFunds began in 1959 in New York City, where investor Leon Levy co-founded the Oppenheimer mutual funds after becoming a partner at Oppenheimer & Co. It grew from the paper-prospectus, ticker-tape universe into a major U.S. investment-management name—serious business, with just enough Wall Street mystique.

The corporate lineage traveled through several ownership changes. Mercantile House acquired the business in 1982; British & Commonwealth later gained control through its 1987 acquisition of Mercantile House. Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company bought Oppenheimer Management Corporation in 1990 for $150 million. The company adopted the OppenheimerFunds name in 1994, giving the brand its familiar, confidently camel-cased final form.

From its headquarters at 225 Liberty Street in lower Manhattan, OppenheimerFunds managed mutual funds and other investment strategies for individual and institutional clients. In 2019, Invesco acquired MassMutual’s OppenheimerFunds investment-management business, completing the deal on May 24. By December, the two organizations described themselves as operating as a single global firm. Corporate consolidation: the world’s least sentimental group project.

Our OppenheimerFunds collection celebrates the polished visual language of long-horizon investing: old-school fund-family confidence, Manhattan financial-district energy, and the peculiar romance of betting on tomorrow from a very well-appointed conference room.
