Orange Air

Ghost Corp Apparel — resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Orange Air, LLC was a Sanford, Florida-based U.S. charter airline founded on April 1, 2011. Operating under the “Orange Jet” call sign and FAA identifier ORN, it began flying on June 10, 2014, from Orlando Sanford International Airport. Its headquarters sat on airport grounds at 1722 Hangar Road, Building 147—a suitably aviation-nerd address for a carrier built around old-school McDonnell Douglas MD-80 jets.

The airline initially worked charter missions, including sports travel, then briefly entered public charter service in 2015 for Branson AirExpress. Beginning in May 2015, Orange Air’s MD-80s linked Cincinnati, Branson, New Orleans, and Cancún. The Cincinnati segment ended on October 5, 2015, while the Branson–New Orleans–Cancún service moved to Elite Airways. Orange Air also announced plans to add Boeing 737-800s, but those aircraft never joined the fleet. Classic airline optimism: always one financing round away from the big jet future.

Operations were suspended in August 2016 after its aircraft needed major maintenance. A hoped-for restart did not materialize, and Orange Air surrendered its FAA air carrier certificate in April 2017. The short-lived airline remains a vivid little artifact of the charter world: orange branding, MD-80 thunder, and a timetable that vanished almost as quickly as it appeared.

Our Orange Air collection celebrates that bright, brief Sanford aviation experiment—built for travelers, plane spotters, and anyone who knows the best corporate ghosts sometimes boarded with a boarding pass.
