Add a regional airline-history touch to a display with this Afghan Jet International Airlines vanity license plate. The carrier was headquartered in Kabul and based its operations at Hamid Karzai International Airport, serving five airports within Afghanistan. Its operations ended in 2016, but the story continued through its single aircraft’s long stay at Maastricht Aachen Airport and 2025 auction. A distinctive display choice for aviation collectors, Afghan history enthusiasts, and anyone interested in corporate histories with a documented final chapter.
Afghan Jet International Airlines was a regional airline based in Afghanistan, with its headquarters in Kabul and operations based at Hamid Karzai International Airport. The airline served five airports, all within Afghanistan. Destinations listed for the carrier were current as of August 2014. Its fleet was described as consisting of a single aircraft in August 2016. That aircraft was parked at Maastricht Aachen Airport for maintenance when the airline ceased operations on June 15, 2016. It remained at the airport until 2025, when it was auctioned to pay storage costs. The available history records no merger, predecessor, successor, or later brand transition. These details place the airline within Afghanistan’s regional aviation history and trace its final aircraft from its Kabul-based operation to long-term storage in the Netherlands.
