GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Let a familiar name from Western New York history join your everyday drives. Jenss was founded in Lockport in 1887 and grew into a regional department store company, with stores at Boulevard Mall, Eastern Hills Mall, Summit Park Mall, and other local destinations. This car coaster is a small reminder of shopping trips, family routines, and the communities that shaped the brand’s story. It is a thoughtful choice for former Jenss customers, local collectors, and anyone who enjoys remembering the region’s retail past.
Jenss was a small department store chain serving Western New York. The Jenss brothers founded the company in 1887 in Lockport, New York, establishing a local retail business that later expanded to several regional shopping destinations. Harold Dautch bought the company in 1951. In 1962, Jenss opened its flagship department store at Boulevard Mall in Amherst, New York. Its other locations included Summit Park Mall, Eastern Hills Mall, and Main Street in Niagara Falls. The company also operated Jenss Twin Ton at Main and Niagara streets in downtown Tonawanda, in the former Zuckmaier Brothers department store. In 1997, Jenss decided to close its Summit Park Mall location. On September 15, 2000, the company closed all of its department stores. In 2002, Jenss chose to open stores exclusively with Reeds Jewelers while remaining a separate company. The arrangement was not a merger: Jenss and Reeds Jewelers retained separate and distinct operations. This history traces the brand from its 1887 Lockport founding through regional expansion, department store closures, and a later retail relationship.
