GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Celebrate a recognizable chapter of craft-store history with this Jo-Ann Fabrics metal bottle opener. The business started in Cleveland in 1943, took the Jo-Ann Fabrics name in 1963, and eventually became Joann. Its story includes decades of changing ownership and corporate identity before the final stores closed in 2025. A practical keepsake for former shoppers, sewing and crafting fans, and collectors of American specialty-retail history, it brings a familiar store name into casual gatherings and home collections.

Jo-Ann’s history began in 1943, when German immigrant families opened the Cleveland Fabric Shop in Cleveland, Ohio. Following expansion, the shop was renamed Jo-Ann Fabrics in 1963, combining the names Joan and Jacqueline Ann. In 1969, the business became a publicly held corporation called Fabri-Centers of America, Inc. It acquired the 342-store Cloth World chain in 1994 and House of Fabrics in 1998; that retailer had also operated as Fabricland, Fabric King, and So-Fro Fabrics. In September 1998, Fabri-Centers changed its corporate name to Jo-Ann Stores Inc., and its stores were renamed Jo-Ann Fabrics. The company went private after a 2010 buyout announcement and 2011 stock-market delisting, then returned to public trading in 2021. It rebranded as Joann in 2018. After Chapter 11 filings in 2024 and 2025, the chain began liquidating in February 2025; its last stores closed on May 30. Michaels later acquired Joann’s intellectual property and private labels, but not its stores.

This slim, all-metal bottle opener feels like the trusted tool you reach for when friends gather and stories start. Forged from heavy-duty stainless steel, it slides into a pocket or bartending apron without bulk, then delivers confident leverage when a cold drink needs freeing. The flat surface accepts crisp laser engraving, so names, dates, or logos stay sharp through years of use. Use it behind the home bar, at backyard tailgates, or hand one to each member of your wedding party — it’s built to take commercial-level wear while still looking clean and refined. Simple, sturdy, and ready for the next toast.
