Bring a chapter of American aviation history into your everyday rotation with this National Airlines Cotton Polo Shirt. Established in 1985, the carrier began flying in 1986 with cargo service and later grew into passenger and cargo charter operations. Its evolution from Murray Air to National Airlines, along with its move from Michigan to Orlando, makes the name a distinctive choice for aviation enthusiasts and collectors. Wear it to an airshow, on a travel day, or whenever airline history is part of the conversation.
National Airlines, part of National Air Cargo Group, Inc., is a U.S. carrier based in Orlando, Florida, offering on-demand cargo and passenger charter services. Established in 1985, it began flying in December 1986 with Mitsubishi MU-2 aircraft adapted for cargo. In April 2005, Murray Air and sister company Murray Aviation combined operations under Murray Air’s newly acquired Part 121 certificate. After National Air Cargo acquired the airline, Murray Air adopted the National Airlines name in December 2008. Originally based at Willow Run Airport near Ypsilanti, Michigan, the company completed its move to Orlando in January 2013. Its history includes scheduled charter passenger flights in the U.S. and Canada, worldwide cargo flying with Douglas DC-8 aircraft, and later Boeing 747-400BCF and Boeing 757-200 operations. In 2009, cargo flights connected Ypsilanti with Bagram and Kandahar in Afghanistan; that service ended in 2010. The company filed for Chapter 11 protection in December 2014. In September 2015, it announced scheduled passenger service from Orlando Sanford International Airport, though a planned Long Island–Puerto Rico route did not operate.
