Set out with a reminder of WestAir Commuter Airlines and the regional routes that shaped its history. This 40oz insulated travel mug stainless tumbler brings together the carrier’s California roots, its early United Express service, and its expansion into turboprops and BAe 146 regional jets. WestAir’s story continued through its 1992 acquisition by Mesa Air Group and its eventual replacement by SkyWest on United’s western regional service. It suits aviation enthusiasts, airline memorabilia collectors, and anyone drawn to the history of regional flight.

WestAir Commuter Airlines was a U.S. regional carrier whose roots lay in Stol Air Commuter, based in San Rafael, California, with administrative offices in Santa Rosa. Stol Air Commuter changed its name to WestAir Airlines in 1978, and the company adopted the WestAir Commuter Airlines name in 1986. After the 1978 transition, WestAir Group acquired Redding-based Golden Eagle Airlines. WestAir became one of the first two regional carriers operating as United Express under a code-sharing agreement with United Airlines on May 1, 1985. Headquartered in Fresno and controlled by WestAir Holding, the airline expanded its fleet from small commuter aircraft to turboprops and, from 1988, BAe 146-200 regional jets. North Pacific Airlines, another WestAir Holding carrier operating as United Express, merged into WestAir in 1991. Mesa Air Group acquired WestAir in May 1992. United later ended its United Express contract with WestAir, and on April 23, 1998, SkyWest Airlines replaced it as United's west coast regional United Express carrier. WestAir's Brasilias passed to Utah-based SkyWest, while many of its Jetstream 31s were stored in Kingman, Arizona.
