It coordinated connections with Caribbean Star Airlines, an Antiguan sister company. Caribbean Sun stopped flight operations toward the end of January 2007. A proposed restart as Merengue Airlines Dominicana after a change of ownership did not succeed. The company was subsequently sold to Tomas Romero and renamed World Atlantic Airlines, shifting its focus to ACMI charter services. It provided charter flights for Myrtle Beach Direct Air before that airline’s 2012 bankruptcy and was fined by the U.S. Department of Transportation that year for related regulatory violations. From 2013, it also provided charter services for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
