Kessler's

Ghost Corp Apparel — resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Kessler’s began in Macon, Georgia, in 1914. The Kessler family moved to Atlanta in 1932, and Hyman and Walter H. Kessler opened a downtown Atlanta store the following year. It was a family-owned department-store operation, built for the practical business of selling the stuff people actually needed.

From its Atlanta base, Kessler’s grew into a Georgia chain with stores in Smyrna, Rome, Newnan, West Point, Decatur, west Atlanta, and Canton. The downtown store was the home-base landmark: a familiar Whitehall Street presence amid the grand old retail machinery of central Atlanta.

The store’s era outlasted plenty of retail churn, but not all of it. In 1998, the Kessler family closed every Kessler’s location. Its former downtown Atlanta building later became Kessler City Lofts, which opened in 2000 with fifty condominium units. Department-store floor space: converted. Ghostly retail aura: apparently permanent.

Our Kessler's collection celebrates a Georgia retail original that made the leap from Macon storefront to Atlanta institution, then left behind a name with just enough old-school department-store swagger to deserve another trip around the block.
