ADAC Laboratories was a Silicon Valley medical device company focused on nuclear medicine gamma cameras, processing computers, and software. The name ADAC stood for Analytical Development Associates Corporation, though the business was commonly called ADAC or adaclabs. Incorporated in California on October 14, 1970, it began at 10300 Bubb Road in Cupertino before relocating to San Jose, Sunnyvale, and, around 1993, 540 Alder Drive in Milpitas. Early work included nuclear medicine hardware and software; from 1975 through the 1980s, the company became known for CDS and DPS acquisition and processing systems. In 1987-88 it maintained a licensed gamma camera installed base, and after that vendor left nuclear medicine around 1991, ADAC received a license to its nuclear technology. During the 1990s it produced gamma camera lines including Argus, Genesys, Polaris, Thyrus, Transcam, Vertex, Forte, and Skylight, plus Pegasys workstations and radiation treatment planning systems. Philips acquired ADAC in 2000 for $426 million, integrating it into Philips Medical Systems, later Philips Healthcare. Milpitas operations closed around 2006.
