Product Details & Size Guide
Adage was founded in Boston in 1957 by James I. Stockwell and fellow MIT graduates. After beginning with converter technology, the company focused on computer graphics from 1967, producing milestone systems such as the GS/300 and GT/2250 before the Adage 4000 and 6000. This hoodie or sweatshirt recognizes that documented history and the company’s Massachusetts roots, making it a fitting choice for former employees, collectors, and anyone drawn to computing’s past.
Adage, Inc. was an electronics and computer manufacturer founded in Boston in 1957 by James I. “Jim” Stockwell and two other MIT graduates. The company initially specialized in analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, then later moved to Billerica. Beginning in 1967, Adage focused on computer graphics systems; its most advanced system that year was the GS/300. In 1976, it introduced the GT/2250 Vector Graphics Workstation, designed to be plug compatible with the IBM 2250 Graphics Display Unit. Adage later created the Adage 4000 and introduced the Adage 6000 series workstation in 1985. In 1989, the company held merger discussions with several potential partners, including Multiflow Computer and GBIC, but those talks did not result in a merger. Systems & Computer Technology Corporation acquired Adage for US$5 million in 1994. The company’s history traces a shift from converter technology to computer graphics workstations.
