In July 2006, the company sold its cable operations to Comcast and Time Warner for $17.6 billion, and ceased doing business. Time Warner Cable succeeded Adelphia as a publicly traded corporation in 2007. Its cable assets were spun out in 2009 and acquired by Charter Communications in 2016; the service is now known as Spectrum. The Rigas family also established Zito Media to serve some areas not included in the sale, including much of Potter County, Pennsylvania.
