Keep a memorable name from Afghanistan’s aviation history close at hand with this Afghan Jet International Airlines double-sided keychain charm. Based in Kabul, the regional carrier served airports within Afghanistan before ceasing operations on June 15, 2016. Its single aircraft then remained in storage at Maastricht Aachen Airport until a 2025 auction closed that unusual final chapter. A thoughtful small keepsake for aviation-history collectors, airline enthusiasts, and travelers interested in Kabul’s place in regional aviation.
Afghan Jet International Airlines was a regional airline based in Afghanistan, with its headquarters in Kabul and operations based at Hamid Karzai International Airport. The airline served five airports, all within Afghanistan. Destinations listed for the carrier were current as of August 2014. Its fleet was described as consisting of a single aircraft in August 2016. That aircraft was parked at Maastricht Aachen Airport for maintenance when the airline ceased operations on June 15, 2016. It remained at the airport until 2025, when it was auctioned to pay storage costs. The available history records no merger, predecessor, successor, or later brand transition. These details place the airline within Afghanistan’s regional aviation history and trace its final aircraft from its Kabul-based operation to long-term storage in the Netherlands.
