Air Kentucky was a commuter airline based in Owensboro, Kentucky. The company began operations in 1974 and was also known for a time as Owensboro Aviation. It joined the Allegheny Commuter system for Allegheny Airlines and later operated as part of USAir Express. Air Kentucky ended operations in 1989. Its listed fleet included 13 Beechcraft Model 99 aircraft, two EMB-110 P aircraft, and four Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner SA-227 aircraft. The airline also received a popular-culture mention in the film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou: Ned Plimpton, one of the main characters, is a pilot for Air Kentucky.
