Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Keep a small reminder of Aloha Airlines close at hand. The Honolulu carrier began as Trans-Pacific Airlines in 1946, serving Maui and Hilo before its name and network grew. Later milestones included jet service, Boeing 737 flights, and mainland routes beginning in 2000. This double-sided keychain charm celebrates the airline’s changing chapters and its connection to Hawaii’s inter-island travel history, making it a meaningful keepsake for aviation enthusiasts and Aloha collectors.
Aloha Airlines began as Trans-Pacific Airlines, a charter carrier founded by publisher Ruddy F. Tongg Sr. and partners in Honolulu. It commenced service on July 26, 1946, flying a Douglas C-47 from Honolulu to Maui and Hilo. After receiving approval for scheduled service in 1949, it adopted the name TPA-The Aloha Airline in 1950. Real estate developer Hung Wo Ching became CEO in 1958 and renamed the company Aloha Airlines. The carrier introduced turboprops and then jets, retiring its last DC-3 in 1961 and beginning BAC One-Eleven service in 1966. Boeing 737s entered service in 1969. Aloha acquired Princeville Airways in 1987; the subsidiary became Aloha IslandAir and later Island Air, independent from 2003. The airline began mainland flights in 2000, but rising costs, fuel prices and competition contributed to repeated bankruptcy filings. Scheduled passenger service ended on March 31, 2008. Its cargo division was sold to Saltchuk Resources and continued as Aloha Air Cargo, while Aloha Contract Services took over ground-handling contract work. In 2011, Yucaipa Companies acquired the Aloha name and other intellectual property.
