Its business included hydrocarbon exploration and production, natural gas and petroleum processing and transportation, and some hard-minerals interests. Anadarko established its headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas, where two office towers were completed in 2014 and named for former chief executives. In 2014, it agreed to a $5.15 billion settlement for environmental cleanup connected to sites inherited through the Kerr-McGee purchase. In 2019, Occidental Petroleum acquired Anadarko after outbidding Chevron. The acquisition ended Anadarko's history as an independent public company.
