GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
This ASAP tumbler brings the story of a changing delivery business to an everyday favorite. The company began as Waitr in Lake Charles in 2013, built around sending mobile orders directly to restaurant kitchens, and grew city by city across the South. After the Bite Squad acquisition in 2019, it later adopted the ASAP name and pursued delivery beyond restaurants. Its operations ended in 2024, giving the brand a clear place in the history of app-based delivery.
ASAP began in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in 2013 as Waitr, Inc., founded by Chris Meaux with support from McNeese State University. Its origins trace to Startup Weekend Gainesville in October 2013, where Meaux and students developed a mobile ordering concept that sent customer orders directly to restaurant kitchens. The team later tested table-side ordering, pivoted to carry-out, and then expanded into delivery as demand grew. Waitr launched city by city across the South. In 2018, it was acquired through a $308 million reverse takeover by Lancadia holdings, part of Fertitta Entertainment. In January 2019, Waitr acquired Minneapolis-based Bite Squad for $321 million, substantially increasing its size. In 2021, it acquired Florida-based Delivery Dudes and three payment processing companies: ProMerchant, Flow Payments, and Cape Cod Merchant Services. The company announced a rebrand to ASAP in January 2022, alongside a shift toward non-restaurant deliveries, particularly cannabis. The name change and a $4.7 million payment were part of a trademark settlement with Waiter.com. ASAP announced it would cease operations on March 30, 2024. On April 2, Waitr Holdings declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation.
