GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Carry the story of a coastal North Carolina rail corridor into your everyday wardrobe with this Atlantic and East Carolina Railway hoodie or sweatshirt. The line connected Goldsboro, New Bern, and Morehead City, with service beginning in 1858 under its earlier railroad identity. A railway chartered in 1939 leased the route, and its name became part of passenger service history. Designed for fans of rail heritage, local history, and the communities shaped by these connections, it honors a memorable chapter in regional transportation.

The Atlantic and East Carolina Railway grew from a coastal North Carolina rail corridor first built and operated by the Atlantic and North Carolina Railroad. Incorporated in 1852 and organized in 1854, the railroad constructed about 96 miles between Morehead City and Goldsboro, passing through New Bern. Service began around June 1, 1858. The line suffered major damage during the Civil War and was later rehabilitated with financing secured by a 1868 mortgage. After a lease to a predecessor of Norfolk Southern ended in 1934 following unpaid rent, the original railroad resumed operation. A newly chartered Atlantic and East Carolina Railway leased the line effective August 1, 1939, and passenger trains used its name; a daily Goldsboro–Morehead City service ended by 1951. Southern Railway acquired the lessee's stock in 1957. The Atlantic and North Carolina Railroad merged into North Carolina Railroad Company in 1989. In 1999, Atlantic and East Carolina Railway gained freight trackage rights over the former route. In 2003, the railway filed to merge into Norfolk Southern Railway, which was to be the surviving company.
