AwesomenessTV began in July 2012 as a YouTube channel founded by Brian Robbins and Joe Davola, producing web series for tweens and teenagers. It expanded into a multi-channel network and broadened its work to talent, branded content, music, publishing, and consumer products. DreamWorks Animation agreed to acquire the company in May 2013, completing the purchase that year. AwesomenessTV acquired talent management and digital network Big Frame in 2014, while Hearst Corporation took a 25% stake. In 2016, Verizon acquired a minority stake and funded programming for its go90 service. After go90 shut down, Viacom acquired AwesomenessTV in July 2018. The studio subsequently shortened its name to Awesomeness and operated under Viacom Digital Studios, producing film and television for streaming services and youth audiences. Following the 2019 Viacom-CBS merger, it worked alongside Nickelodeon on live-action production. In October 2025, Awesomeness and its production operations were merged into Paramount Television Studios, following the formation of Paramount Skydance.
