In December 2023, Conn's completed its purchase of Badcock. The acquisition was followed by financial strain: in July 2024, Conn's cited inflation, declining sales, and the Badcock purchase as factors in its difficulties. On July 23, Conn's announced plans to close as many as 106 stores under the two brands and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Texas. A report the next day said the retailer was winding down its nearly 600 locations, with liquidation sales expected to finish by October 31, 2024. Badcock & More continues in South Florida through a license agreement, with 10 stores reported as of 2026.
