Bally Sports New Orleans was a regional sports network serving New Orleans and parts of Louisiana and neighboring states. Its origins date to June 25, 2012, when Fox Sports Networks announced a long-term agreement to televise games of the New Orleans Hornets, now the New Orleans Pelicans. Fox acquired the team’s regional cable rights after Cox Sports Television declined to renew its contract. The channel launched as Fox Sports New Orleans on October 31, 2012, and carried 75 Hornets games during its first season. In 2019, Sinclair Broadcast Group and Allen Media Group, through Diamond Sports Group, acquired the Fox Sports Networks from Disney as part of a divestment connected to Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox. On March 31, 2021, the channel adopted the Bally Sports name under a sponsorship agreement with Bally’s Corporation. Diamond Sports Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2023. In 2024, it did not renew agreements with the Pelicans, Dallas Stars, and Texas Rangers. The Pelicans moved local broadcasts to a network of stations led by WVUE-DT and a subscription streaming service. Bally Sports New Orleans closed on October 21, 2024, and the Bally Sports brand transitioned to FanDuel Sports Network.
