Product Details & Size Guide
Celebrate the railroad that connected northern Maine communities with this Bangor and Aroostook Railroad Cuffed Beanie. From its 1891 beginnings, the line expanded toward Houlton, Caribou, Van Buren, and Fort Kent, carrying potatoes, paper, pulpwood, and wood chips across the region. Its colorful boxcars drew attention in the 1950s, while trains such as the Aroostook Flyer and Potatoland remain part of its passenger-era story. A fitting keepsake for railfans, Maine locals, and collectors of regional history.
Incorporated in 1891, the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad combined the former Bangor and Piscataquis Railroad and Bangor and Katahdin Iron Works Railway. Based in Bangor, it expanded across northern Maine, reaching Houlton and Oakfield by 1894, Caribou in 1895, Van Buren in 1899, and Fort Kent in 1902. A southern extension reached Searsport in 1905, and the railroad connected across the Saint John River to New Brunswick in 1915. Potatoes, paper, pulpwood, and wood chips shaped its freight business; heated boxcars carried potatoes from 1895, and potato traffic supplied half its revenue after World War II. Its red, white, and blue boxcars drew national attention in the 1950s. Passenger trains included the Aroostook Flyer and Potatoland, with service ending in 1961. The company merged with Punta Alegre Sugar and Railroad Company to form Bangor Punta in 1964. Acquired by Iron Road Railways in 1995, it entered bankruptcy in 2002; its lines were sold in 2003 to Rail World and initially operated by the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway. Track ownership later divided among the state of Maine, the Central Maine and Quebec Railway, and Canadian Pacific.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.
Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
