Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Bernie's began as a local Connecticut business in 1947, when Bernard Rosenberg sold televisions and radios to neighbors. Its first showroom opened in Bloomfield in 1953, and the family enterprise later spread across three New England states. After the name was reclaimed in 1991, Milton Rosenberg rebuilt the chain, which reached fifteen stores by 2009. This travel mug recognizes the ambition, family history, and regional retail story behind Bernie's final chapter in 2010.
Bernie's began in 1947, when Connecticut gas station owner Bernard Rosenberg started selling televisions and radios to local customers. As demand grew, he opened Bernie's TV and Appliance, the company’s first showroom, in Bloomfield, Connecticut, in 1953. With his son Milton and other family members, he built the business into a New England family-owned retailer of audio, video, televisions, appliances, and bedding. In 1985, the Rosenberg family sold its five stores to Newmark & Lewis. Milton left that company in 1990 and bought back the Bernie's name for $1 after Newmark & Lewis went bankrupt and closed in 1991. He rebuilt the chain from one store to ten by 1999. The company moved its headquarters and warehouse to Enfield in 2004 and had 15 stores by the end of 2009, across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. After mounting losses, Bernie's filed for bankruptcy on January 14, 2010. Liquidation sales concluded and the remaining stores closed on February 28, 2010.
