GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Keep a little Montana aviation history close at hand. From its Billings hub, Big Sky Airlines connected smaller eastern and central Montana communities and served routes that changed with the needs of regional air travel. The airline’s story included Northwest Airlink service, evolving aircraft, and brief expansions beyond Montana before scheduled flights ended in March 2008. This can cooler is a casual keepsake for airline memorabilia collectors, former passengers, and anyone drawn to the changing map of commuter aviation in the American West.

Big Sky Airlines was a U.S. commuter carrier established in 1978, beginning scheduled operations on September 15 that year. Headquartered in Billings, Montana, it was owned by Big Sky Transportation Company, a subsidiary of MAIR Holdings, and maintained its principal hub at Billings Logan International Airport. Its core network connected small eastern and central Montana communities, including places previously served by the original Frontier Airlines; it also provided Essential Air Service routes and expanded, often briefly, into other regions. In 1987 it operated as Northwest Airlink, first using BAe Jetstream 31 aircraft and later Swearingen Metroliners. Big Sky took over routes from the bankrupt Exec Express II in 1998, then added service linking Montana and Texas via New Mexico in 2000; the New Mexico routes ended in 2001. Later changes included Beechcraft 1900D turboprops, Sheridan service in 2005, and a Delta Connection agreement announced in December 2006 for Boston-area operations. The eastern operation ended in January 2008. After losing the Delta contract and facing poor weather, weak revenue, and high fuel costs, Big Sky ended scheduled flying on March 8, 2008. Great Lakes Airlines took over its Montana EAS routes in 2009, followed by Gulfstream International Airlines, later named Silver Airways, in 2011, and Cape Air in 2013.
