Product Details & Size Guide

GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Celebrate the routes and aircraft that made Bonanza Air Lines a distinctive part of postwar regional aviation. From its beginnings as a Las Vegas charter operator, the company grew to connect communities throughout Nevada, Arizona, California, and Utah. Its fleet story spans DC-3s, F-27 turboprops, and DC-9 jets, ending with its 1968 transition into Air West. This ceramic ornament offers a meaningful keepsake for airline history collections and a seasonal display inspired by a memorable chapter in Western air travel.

Bonanza Air Lines grew from Bonanza Air Service, a Las Vegas charter operator that began in 1945 with a single-engine Cessna. In 1946, it acquired a C-47, converted to civilian Douglas DC-3 configuration, and began scheduled intrastate service between Las Vegas and Reno on August 5. Federal certification as a local service airline followed in 1949, when scheduled operations began between Reno and Phoenix via intermediate cities. The carrier expanded through Arizona, Southern California, and Utah, adding routes that included Phoenix to Los Angeles in 1952. In 1959, Bonanza introduced Fairchild F-27 turboprops; after its last scheduled DC-3 flight in 1960, it became the first all-turbine airline in the United States. Its Douglas DC-9 jet service began March 1, 1966, and its headquarters moved from Las Vegas to Phoenix that year. Bonanza also held authority for service to Mexico and operated international flights from Phoenix and Tucson shortly before the merger. With Civil Aeronautics Board approval, it joined Pacific Air Lines and West Coast Airlines to form Air West on July 1, 1968. Bonanza aircraft and routes became part of the new airline, later renamed Hughes Airwest.
