Based in Allen, Texas, the company also established studios in Austin and Seattle; its McKinney office was first located in the renovated Cotton Mill before its headquarters moved to Allen. In 2014, the company announced Dungeon Boss, with Big Fish Games identified as publisher. Dave Luehmann joined as vice president of production in May 2015, and an Austin office opened that July. Netflix acquired the studio in March 2022 as part of its expansion into video games. Netflix dissolved Boss Fight in late 2025, following the release of Squid Game: Unleashed; the article reports that the mobile title reached the top position on app charts in more than 100 countries. Several former team members went on to establish Sunwise Games. In March 2026, the founders announced a new independent studio under the Bossfight name.
