The company ceased operations on 15 February 1936 after it was unable to obtain an airmail contract from the United States Post Office Department. Most of its assets were purchased by Braniff Airways; the Vultee aircraft were sold to American Airlines. Bowen Air Lines thus links early Texas aviation, the development of commercial passenger and express service, and the later transfer of aircraft and other assets to established carriers.
