Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Celebrate the reach and evolution of Britt Airways with a travel mug inspired by its regional airline story. From its Terre Haute beginnings, Britt grew into a feeder carrier serving busy hubs and connecting passengers with larger networks. Its history spans Allegheny Commuter service, the People Express years, and the Continental Express transition, alongside a varied turboprop and jet fleet. A distinctive everyday choice for aviation fans, route-map enthusiasts, and collectors of American airline history.
Britt Airways began in 1964 as Vercoa Air Service and was based in Terre Haute, Indiana. William and Marilyn Britt purchased the company in 1975, after which it became Britt Airlines and later Britt Airways. The commuter carrier expanded from regional routes into a larger network, operating Beechcraft 99 aircraft for Allegheny Commuter by 1969. Chicago O’Hare became a major hub, with additional operations in Indianapolis and St. Louis. Its fleet included turboprops such as the Swearingen Metroliner and Fairchild Hiller FH-227, and, by early 1985, BAC One-Eleven jets. In 1985, founder Bill Britt sold the airline to People Express. Following People Express’s merger with Continental in 1987, Britt’s flights shifted to the Continental Express banner, serving hubs including Houston, Newark, Cleveland, and Denver. The Chicago operation ended in 1989, while a route from Chicago Meigs Field to Springfield continued until 1991. Britt Airways merged with ExpressJet in 1996, ending its independent history.
