GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Start the day with the story of Buckmobile Company, a regional automaker formed in Utica in 1902. Its first prototype dated to 1901, and its runabouts developed in styling and equipment, with later versions advertised at 15 horsepower. Factory expansion brought financial strain, and a 1904 merger did not keep the marque in production beyond 1905. With total output estimated at about 40 cars, Buckmobile remains a memorable name for collectors of early automobiles. This coffee mug is a thoughtful choice for enthusiasts who enjoy uncovering overlooked chapters of motoring history.
Buckmobile Company was formed on May 31, 1902, out of the earlier Utica Automobile Co., headed by A.J. Seaton and W. H. Birdsall. A prototype had been created in 1901, and the company manufactured Buckmobile automobiles in Utica, New York, from 1902 to 1905. Its early runabouts evolved in styling and equipment: by 1903 they had a twin-cylinder, 10-horsepower engine, while later versions added a steering wheel and advertised 15 horsepower. The company expanded its factory, but the expansion dealt it a serious financial blow. In 1904, Buckmobile was acquired through a merger with the Black Diamond Automobile Company. Buckmobile production and the brand continued largely unchanged, while a proposed Black Diamond car apparently did not reach production. The merged business also briefly made a commercial Business Wagon. Production ended by July 1905, and the business was sold at a sheriff's sale shortly afterward. Total production is estimated at about 40 Buckmobiles.
